LITTLE BUTTS steadily improved his position to gam closer contention leaving the final turn, came fast when shaken for the stretch run and, after taking command inside the stretch, briskly drew clear. OLD PROSPECTOR, slow to attain best stride, drifted wide on the final turn, continued far out to the middle of the track for the drive and closed with good energy. ORPHINA showed good speed from the start and held on willingly enough through the late stages in a creditable effort. COMPILE tired. LAST FLING came to the inside to assume a slight lead at the furlong marker, but faltered when punished. LE GUSTA had no apparent mishap. GRAY SCOTT stumbled soon after the start and failed to regain best stride. RIPSHOT raced wide. MAKIN BELIEVE was through early. COUNT MAR and DANCING GEM were always outrun. FLUELLEN, a sharp factor from the start, moved up boldly on the outside to assume a slight lead at the furlong marker and, though bearing in slightly through the stretch, outlasted TEXTILE. The latter, forwardly placed from the start, remained next to the inner rail for the drive and finished with good courage in a sharp effort. STORY TELLER held sway for a half mile, then failed to respond sufficiently when shaken for the final test. POOR JOHN lacked the necessary rally. OH JOHNNY tried to get out during the run down the backstretch and was unable to recover. LUMONO drifted wide on the near turn and lost all chance. TOMFOOLERY failed to stay. XAPCOURT alternated in setting and pressing the early pace, attained a clear lead leaving the final turn and continued on gamely thereafter, winning with speed in reserve. BASILIA, forced to take up sharply when in close quarters during the early running, recovered readily to gain the runner-up position nearing the seventh hurdle, was unable to overtake the leader when shaken for the stretch run, but held on willingly to easily prevail over the others. BREAKERS AHEAD raced evenly through the late stages without apparent mishap. RING 0 ROSES lacked a convincing rally. BIG CLOWN never was formidable. MA POULICHE retired steadily after showing early speed. WHISKEY SOUR was unable to keep up. SAUNTERER was through early. HADHRAMUT was not unduly persevered with when hopelessly beaten. REALITIES raced in closest pursuit of THATSTHETUNE for a half mile, forged to the front nearing the furlong marker and gradually drew clear when fully extended. THATSTHETUNE saved ground next to the inner rail while engaging the winner to the stretch, was unable to regain the lead during the late stages, but held on determinedly to outgame SELDOM SORRY. The latter, fractious at the post, failed to make up appreciable ground when hard ridden through the final furlong. MANTELPIECE lacked a convincing rally. GREAT ARTURO failed to properly respond when called upon for his best effort. FLANDERS ROAD passed tiring horses. RUDYS CHANCE was unable to keep up. MARTY KELZIN began sluggishly. THE TROLL was outrun. LOST TREASURE was through after a half mile. COALSPUR, allowed to settle into best stride, came to the outside to take command with a rush when ready inside the furlong marker and briskly drew out, winning with something left. BOLERO JANE held a slight lead when settled for the stretch run, was unable to withstand the challenge of the winner, but held on willingly enough to prevail over GLAMOUR. The latter, fractious at the post, was forwardly placed during the early running, but failed to properly respond when set down for the ultimate test. TERI had no apparent excuse. ARIETTA was unable to attain the lead and tired. MINE STONE lacked early speed. BLUE ORE retired steadily after flashing brief early speed. BRADLEY, cleverly rated, took command with a rush when shaken nearing the furlong marker and continued on gamely thereafter without urging. BLACK RECORD, shuffled back slightly on the far turn, recovered readily to regain the runner-up position entering the stretch, but was no match for the winner when the real test came. BLACK METAL, alvays within striking distance, came to the middle of the track for the stretch run, but under stern punishment was not good enough. AFFRIGHTED, forced to take up sharply when in close quarters on the far turn, was unable to recover. RIVER JORDAN had no mishap. MONARCH MORE, much used early, had little left. SEARCHING steadily improved her position on the outside to gain a slight lead on teh final turn, incrased her advantage entering the stretch and continued on gamely under clever rating. ELENEM moved up boldly at the furlong marker, then was unable to seriously endanger the leader when hard ridden through the late stages. MANOTICK, unhurried when outrun early, made a game bid leaving the final turn, but faltered thereafter vhen subjected to stern punishment. HURRY BY passed tiring horses. MOHAWK VALLEY, much used early, had little left. GALLAIR was unable to attain the lead and tired. PRINCESS KISS saved ground to no avail. COURTESY was through after six furlongs.
