CHARLES SILVERS— The Florida owners Jacolady triumphed in the third race on yesterdays Balmoral program at Washington Park. Completes Training Double For Good paster; Leads Home Foe by Almost Two Lengths By DON FAIR CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 14. — H. K. Goodpasters Filly o Mine, smartly handled by Jimmy Parsons, raced to a mildly surprising victory here this rather drab afternoon in the Whirlaway Purse before a crowd of more than 6,000 spectators. Filly o Mine reached the finish of the eight furlongs feature with a length and three-quarters advantage before D. H. Wells favored My Night Out. Three and one-half lengths back of the leaders Mrs. Elizabeth Mucklers Home-place saved third while Mr. and Mrs. John Zitniks Manassas ran- fourth in the field of six starters. First Success This Year Filly o Mine, a five-year-old daughter of Holdall and Transour. completed her winning jaunt over the sloppy footing in 1:403,5. She was a 47-to-10 chance in the wagering to garner her first success of the 1957 campaign. Owner Goodpaster completed a training double with his Whirlaway Purse accounting, having saddled Herve Racivitchs Nemesia for her victory in one of the earlier events on the card. Filly o Mine ran a game race in the Whirlaway. She was forced to repulse early challenges from Smoky Hill and Placer and then was under rather stern pressure in the drive to retain a safe margin over the hard-charging My Night Out. Unique Commando, a member of the David Paper and L. R. Harris -owned Bud- dah Stable, raced to a popular victory in the Kentucky Thoroughbreed Breeders As- sociation Dinner Purse. Responding readily to Johnny Delahoussayes Well-judged ride, Unique Commando whirled by the finish j with two and one-half lengths to spare over his nearest rival, Charles W. Jones Loraida. Joseph D. Pucketts Green Hills, pace-1 maker for the major part of the four and one-half furlongs dash, ran third, three-quarters of a length back of Loraida and two lengths before Four R Stables Col- onel R. S. Unique Commando, a son of Ace Admiral and Scarlet Lake, stepped through the sticky footing in :54%. He was the 6-to-5 favorite to down his 10 juvenile rivals. KTBA members honored owner Paper at a dinner following the races at the Brown Hotel. H. H. Mundys Exception, ridden by Bobby Dever, proved much the best in the six furlongs second race. Practically left at the post, the Mundy filly unleashed a powerful stretch bid, ample to put awav the leaders and garner a five and three-i quarters lengths decision. Mrs. Harvey C. Fruehaufs Dukes Sandal, who led the capacity field of three-year-olds until well inside the home lane, ran second, a head in advance of Whitney and Wooters Seasons Son.
