For For m ---■•• " another, Copper Head is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Burright, she the nationally famous Grandma Burright. Not only that j the grand lady from Oregon, 111., had been in bad health for the past several months. her husband a few days prior to Copper Heads victory suffered a mild heart attack. Said Milt Burright, Forrests brother who is connected with the Fred Koch stable of Elgin: "This will speed up my brothers recovery faster than any doctor could." Copper Head, bred and trained by Forrest and Grandma Burright, was always a j prime favorite with the old couple and there is good reason to believe that even j if he would race for the lowest claiming i price here, no horseman would ever take him away from the Burrights. For virtually the same sentimental reasons, Harry Burrights victory with Hennessey Hanover in a B-class trot Saturday night was hearily applauded on the backstretch, for Eddie Fox, who trained and raced the horse for his own account, recently suffered a heart attack which , put him out of action for at least a year . . . Silk Byrd, glorious victor in the Col. E. J. Baker Pace, and Cheyenne Goose, a winner of two overnight events here, were shipped to Rosecroft Raceway to fulfill a stakes engagement at the Washington. D. C, suburban half-miler. Wilbur Beattie arrived with 12 head from winter training quarters at Indianapolis. . . . The stables trained by Jerry Mcllmur-ray and Jule Louiso departed for Paines-ville, Ohio. . . . Mel Harmening, who spends most of his time training a dozen two- and three - year - olds at Springfield, reported that the former world record holder and winner of the Illinois State Fair Colt Stake. Peter Vangundy, is training satisfactorily and will probably return to competition at the Sportsmans Park meeting. . . . His i Victory, favored in last Saturdays trotting event won by Hennessey Hanover, went amiss in that race and will be turned out, which would leave owners Mi*, and Mrs. John H. Doesburg of Chicago without a race horse at the present time. Nedda Pence, a pacing filly owned by the same patrons, has been retired and was- bred to Brightside Farms Walter McKlyo. At the end of last week, five horses owned by C. M. Saunders of Perry sburg. Ohio, and trained by Harry Fitzpatrick were credited with the fastest times in their respective divisions. They are the trotters, Specialty 2:04%, Santa Anita, and Major Hoot 2:04%, Maywood, and the pacers. Rapid Goose 2:03%, Santa Anita; 2:04-5, Maywood : Buckeye 2:02. Santa Anita: 2:04, Maywood, and Sea Eagle 2:00-5, Santa Anita. The fastest mile of the 57 season over a half-mile track is credited to Victor and Morris Zeinfelds May wood-owned Ozark Chief, who won the first heat of the Trans-america Pace in 2:02% at Rosecroft Raceway. The highlight of the week here will be the Chicago Press Photographers Pace for . three-year-old pacing fillies. A total of j 25 fillies have been nominated for this ,000 early-closing event to be raced on Friday night. ... By some coincidence, two fillies from Missouri, Day Mangus Golden Ella and Robert Byrnes Lucky Nana, loom as pre -race favorites. . . . Commander Joe, a Tennessee - owned pacing colt, is a likely starter in the Maywood edition of the TransAmerica Pace on May 31. Other candidates for the series currently stabled here are Buckeye, Clever Drive, Scotchlite and Sea Eagle. John Christophers former good pacing mare recently had her first foal, a colt, by Doc rianervs stallion, Norris Hanover. The Elmhurst owners Dr. Hyslop broke his maiden last Saturday night, defeating Jubilmars Grandma Ann, an eligible for Fridays Press Photographers Pace.
