• • Nine-Horse Field Goes In Normandy at Cahokia Demon Bo Meets Miss Kirkwood And Bleak Over Seven Furlongs By J. J. HAHN CAHOKIA DOWNS. East St. Louis, III.. May 14. — Featuring tomorrow nights midweek nine -race card are a pair of allowance races and supporting the headliners are a pair of events that bring together higher-priced claimers. Holding the feature spot is the ,200 Normandy Purse, a seven furlongs dash for three-year-olds and upward and to be used as the seventh race. The ,400 Pagedale Purse is to te used as the fourth, is at six and one-half furlongs and is for three-year-olds. The Normandy has nine entered and expected to accept the conditions are Brady Lane. Miss Kirkwood, First Four. Blue Pair Jr., Demon Bo. Gilded Circle, Chic Betty-ann. Turquesa and Bleak. The latter will be making his first start at the meeting. Under the conditions of the seven-furlong dash three contestants are being asked to carry top weight of 115 pounds. They are Bleak. Miss Kirkwood and Demon Bo. The latter probably will go postward the public choice. This four-year-old son of Crossbow II. has started twice at the meeting and on each occasion encountered bad racing luck and should he find clear racing room is expected to take the measure of his opposition although there are others who may give the J. W. Norwine colorbearer a stiff battle. There are also nine in the fourth race and making up this six and one-half furlongs test are Flashy Fellow. Abbess Quest, G. Lad, Jimmie Yancey, Razor, Step Blister, Princess Ellen and Big Coupon. The latter is coupled with Flashy Fellow as the Frank O. Akin entry. G. Lad. Step Blister and Razor are win- hers at the meeting but despite their entering the charmed circle Flashy Fellow and Big Coupon will probatly be the public choices. G. Lad scored a lucky victory over Flashy Fellow while Razor also won a dash that was roughly run and Step Blister won over less formidable foes. In his last. Flashy Fellow had no chance after being shuffled back after the start but with his inside post position tomorrow should make it troublesome for Razor and G. Lad, who took his measure in recent weeks. The course, which was heavy for Monday mornings trials, dried out rapidly in the afternoon and this morning it was termed fast. Prospects are for showers but it is hoped the racing strip will be fast for the mid-week program.
