RO-ADD was outrun for about a half mile, then moved up on the inside of CREEK NATION and BELLES BEST in the lasLfurlcng but bore out in Jhe final sixteenth to interfere with BELLES BEST and was disqualified and placed second. BELLES BEST led briefly in the early stages, continued well after being headed by CREEK NATION and was in close quarters when RO-ADD bore out. CREEK NATION displayed good early speed and finished steadily on the outside of the first two. JACOLADY was slow to get in best stride and was outrun for a quarter mile, then gained gradually on the outside after entering tha stretch to get to the front at mid-stretch and pull out thereafter. SEA CHARM led briefly in the early stages, then dropped back when in tight quarters on the stretch turn, but came again. UP A TREE threatened to take command entering the stretch, then caugh CITY BELLE to shake off the latter but was not good enough. CITY BELLE headed the field after leaving the backstretch but weakened. ATHENA NIKE appeared to be in tight quarters around the far turn. RARE VINTAGE moved up on the outside of the leader in the stretch and going gamely to the end just missed. PAULA made up some ground in the stretch and was gaining. VARSITY showed speed in spots but seemed difficult for his rider to handle. HIGH AUTHORITY and CYNTHIA SUE were in close quarters right after the start. STIPEND tired.
