J. MURPHY WASHINGTON PARK. Homewood. HI.. May 14.— Rellim S. W.. A Djeddah colt for which Illinois Racing Board member. William S. Miller, gave ,500 at the Keene-land sales last year, made his Chicago debut in the Paperboy Purse here today and came through with an impressive score. Seeking his second consecutive triumph following a victory at Churchill Downs, Rellim S. W. got to the front after entering the stretch to win by three lengths, with jockey John Adams sitting cozy. Second place fell to Maraja. while Alliance got thud money. Alliance was a slight favorite over Rellim S. W.. who paid .80. The colt raced the five furlongs in 1:00%. which was very good considering the condition of the course. Second on Stretch Turn Alliance broke quickly from the inside stall gate to take an advantage of one length soon after the start, while Rellim S. W. was a trifle slow in hitting his best stride and was fifth on the initial turn. The ultimate winner made a good run on the outside after leaving the backstretch to reach second position on the stretch bend and soon after they had started to head for home, he had caught and passed Alliance. The weather was in direct contrast to opening day, the skies being clear for the most part with the temperature about 75 degrees. The track, which was muddy at the outset, was heavy for the later races, The attendance was 7.855. Eleven maiden two-year-olds met in the five-furlong opening race, and Joys Daph-1 ne, a daughter of Johns Joy, one-time J crack sprinter on Chicago tracks, led most of the way to win cleverly. With Larry ; Hansman in the saddle, the miss bested 1 Discordant by a length, while Logs Pride, the favorite, was third. Mangam. the sec- ond choice, bolted to the outside fence leaving the backstretch. A disqualification was recorded in the ; second race when Ro-Add, who finished in | first place, was set back for interfering with the favored Belles Best nearing the ■ end of that contest. Ro-Add, with Doug Dodson up, bore out on Belles Best, with 1 Baird aboard, in the final 50 yards. Belles Best was placed first to complete a 08.00 Daily Double. Ro-Add was relegated to second place in the six-furlong dash. Billie Pisk steered Mrs. Charles Silvers three-year-old filly, Jacolady, to a score over Dixianas first-time-starting sophomore, Sea Charm, in the third that was for maiden three-year-old fillies at six fur-5 ■ longs. Little Pharo, with Charlie Burr up, ■ had little difficulty trimming Brook Prince in the fourth, with the favored entry of : Red Charger and Mammas Baby unplaced. Miss Royal Gem, dropping down a few hundred dollars in claiming class, took the I one-mile fifth and paid 4.60. With Har-5 • rel Bolin riding his first winner of the ! meeting. Miss Royal Gem registered over Bobbys Bull, while Feb was third. The re-S spective first and second choices, War Stim and Full Book, turned in sorry exhibitions. War Stim seemed unable to untrack him-. self and was well in the rear most of the ■ way, while Full Book refused to leave the gate with the others.
