May 14.— Completing a triple for trainer Don Yates, William L. Huntleys Jet Comet, a three-year-old Jet Pilot — French Vamp colt, this afternoon scored an easy six-length victory in the featured W. A. A. M. Purse. Alan T. Clarkes Brighton Dam was second, a length and one-half before Mrs. Eben H. Ellison Jr.s Sunny Kim. Before a crowd of 8,629, both Brighton Dam and Sunny Kim were striving for their second successive victories at the meeting. Neither, however, was able to keep pace with Jet Comet through the stretch, after the three had raced closely bunched around the turn. With Nick Shuk urging him mildly upon entering the stretch. Jet Comet rapidly drew clear and reached the end of the five and one-half furlongs in 1:06?5. He was third choice in the betting and returned 0.00. / Previous Effort Overlooked Jet Comet had set the pace at a mile and one-sixteenth in his last and was beaten less than a length by Buddy Poppers. -The fans chose to overlook this sharp effort, in view of Brighton Dams galloping score at six furlongs and Sunny Kims impressive eight-length score over maidens at the same distance. Trainer Don Yates, enjoying one of his most successful meetings, sent out two more winners during the program, taking the third race with William L. Huntleys Blue Marlin and the fourth event with Cali-York Stables Last Wild Cat. The latter paid 0.80. while Blue Marlin returned 6.60. Blue Marlin. who was ridden by Nick Shuk. prevailed by two and one-half lengths while completing five furlongs in 1:00 V-,, best time of the meeting for the distance. The Education two-year-old was followed by Shield Bearer and High Affair. Alfred C. Pauls Grand Chief, making his third start of the year, was an eight-length winner of the first race, covered five and a half furlongs in 1:07% under Tony Russo. The Radiate II. colt was a .40 favorite and started a Daily Double which was worth 01.40 when Patrick H. Fierros Golden Mood graduated in the second event, returning 5.20. DON.
