High King, Old Roman Evergold Foes Foreign-Bred Trio In Balmoral Event Partiquina, Bozi, Lepafort Are Classy Imports Seeking Honors at Washington Oval WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, 111.. May 14. — River Divide Farms Old Roman and Joseph Gavegnanos High King head a seven-horse field for Wednesdays ,500 j, Evergold, one-mile mid-week highlight of J the Balmoral-at-Washington Park spring c meeting. Spring Hill Farms highly re- li garded Argentina importation, Partiquina, fa Mrs. Russell L. Reinemans French-bred r duo of Bozi and Lepafort, Valley View £ Farms Lark Sun, and E. V. Landaiches f Jims Whim complete the Evergold field. Old Roman has not been to the races j for almost two months, has enjoyed a fair b measure of success thus far in the 1957 I campaign. He has been postward eight b times, shows two grass victories, one over v the once highly regarded Platan at Hi- C aleah. His latest trip was a fifth at Gulf- a stream Park. t High King in Chicagoland Debut High King makes his Chicagoland bow * in Wednesdays race. The colt has not visited the winners circle since November, r 1955. He started only four times last year, f with one of his better races a fourth in t the Wood Memorial won by Head Man £ over Golf Ace. 1 Partiquina has been drilling regularly C over the Homewood course. Last year he i was in the money in four or five starts in Argentina, including a victory in the I Premio Rumbo Stakes in September. Lark Sun has been enjoying some sue- i cess of late in good claiming company. The I gelding, in the money six of his last seven starts, comes off an impressive win last i week in a middle-distance Churchill Downs I event. It was his second win in 11 starts t this season. 1 Jims Whim is after his third win in nine I starts this season. He was eighth in a mile and one-sixteenth Sportsmans Park c allowance event last week. He hooked up 1 with Midaf ternoon on one occasion at 1 Jamaica, leading until the final sixteenth I before tiring to finish sixth. Bozi is looking for his first win of the 1 season, the five-year-old having failed to garner an in -„the-money finish in five tries, J last of which was at Hialeah. Last year i Bozi won three of 24 starts, including a I grass race during the Washington Park 1 meeting. Lepafort has started only three times in this country, all in Florida, this winter. The Lepaillon four-year-old colt is still a maiden.
