Arlington Parks twenty-ninth season opening on Monday will set off a fancy string of 28 stakes carded for the 67-day co-ordinated Arlington-Washington Park meeting. The 28 events alone total ,140,-000 in added money and will be spotlighted by eight early-closing races, each grossing 00,000 or more. Final payments on all eight already have been recorded. Arlingtons quartet of - "hundred-grand-ers" opens on July 9 with the 05,000 gross Arlington Lassie, which shows 151 two-year-old fillies still eligible for the rich event. The Lassie vill be followed on July 16 by the 60,000 gross Arlington Classic, with 80 eligibles; the 50,000 gross Arlington Futurity on July 23, with 193 still candidates, and the 60,000 gross Arlington Handicap, July 30, with 47 eligibles and. destined to be the richest grass race ever run. Washington Parks major event-, include the 05,000 Princess Pat, with 172 eligible; 60,000 American Derby on the grass, 78 eligibles; 50,000 Washington Park Futurity, 218 eligibles, and the 70,000 Washington Park Handicap, 62 eligibles. Nashua to Head Classic Field Looming at this - date as the Arlington climax is the Classic, which is expected to bring William Woodwards star, Nashua, to Chicago for his debut appearance. Among the potential challengers to Nashua in the Classic mile are Blue Ruler.j Dogoon, Flying Fury, Munchausen, Racing Fool, Royal Note, Simmy, Summer Solstice, Summer Tan and Traffic Judge, among others. Also in the climax department will be the Arlington Handicap on the grass, July 30. The closing-day feature is expected to throw Americas two top grass runners against each other for the first time, if they fail to meet in the July Fourth running of the 5,06lT Stars and Stripes Handicap.
