SIXTEEN PROBABLE STARTERS . IN LATONIA , .At DERBY BIG FIELD OF QUALITY Reaping Reward Chief Reliance of Mrs. Mars Milky Way Farm. Flying Scot Coming from New York Over The Top, Dellor, Heelfly, and Other Cracks Named. LATONIA, Ky., June 8. Indications point to a field of sixteen crack three-year-olds being named for the fifty-fifth running of the 5,000 added Latonia Derby, mile and a quarter contest scheduled for Saturday afternoon here. The nominations closed with a total of fifty-one eligibles, but many of this number failed to measure up to expectations and, therefore, are definitely declared out of the major stakes fixture of the current thirty-seven day meeting at the Kenton County course. Several invaders are due to arrive at Latonia within the next two days to receive the final prep, for the richly endowed feature, chief of which are John Hay Whitneys Flying Scot, coming from New York, while Reaping Reward and possibly Military are due from Chicago to provide Mrs. Ethel V. Mars with representation in the race. YACHT CLUB PURSE VICTORY. As a part of his preparation for his engagement in the Lationa Derby, Reaping Reward easily trounced a select field in the Yacht Club Purse decided at Washington Park, Monday. It was the son of Sickles third start this year, having previously finished third behind War Admiral and Pom-poon in the sixty-third renewal of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, after landing second to J. W. Parrishs Dellor, also a Latonia Derby eligible, in the Derby trial at the Louisville track. According to word received by Latonia officials, it has been definitely decided that Reaping Reward would be the chief reliance of the Milky Way Stable on this occasion, but there will be another nember of the outfit among the contestants in the race. Others expected from Washington Park for the Derby are Mrs. W. H. Fursts Over the Top, a son of Man o War and former stablemate of War Adbiral; Valdina Farms Eagle Pass; Raoul Walshs Sunset Trail H., imported racer that has competed in all of the major stakes for three-year-olds this year, and Miss Mary Hirschs No Sir. FORMIDABLE OPPONENTS. The remainder of the probable Derby field consists of horses which have been engaged in racing at Churchill Downs and Latonia and are already on the grounds, including the Three Ds Stock Farms Heelfly.
