Di-J rectors of the Maryland Jockey Club, which operates the Pimlico track here, j late yesterday voted a proposal to make the Freakness Stakes a Futurity, ! whereby it may be worth 00,000 annually. Under the conditions drafted J for the 1938 renewal of Marylands J most important spring special for three-year-olds, two-year-olds of this j year must be nominated by July 15 j next to be eligible. Horsemen who wish j to make yearlings eligible to compete j for the 1939 running of the stake must j nominate at the same time. There will j be supplementary closings to both the ! 1938 and 1939 runnings. The scale of fees has not yet been decided upon, j Directors of the club believe that the J subscriptions, together with the clubs I endowment,, will increase the Preak- ness value to 00,000 for future renewals. ji
