ANOTHER PURSE FOR WHITNEY New York Turfmens Silks Triumph Second Straight Day in Feature at Suffolk Downs. . BOSTON, Mass., Jurie 8 C. V. Whitney, whose horses could do little that was right during the early part of the-meeting, have done nothing wrong the last two days at Suffolk Downs. Today, Black Look charged past two tiring pacemakers to carry the famous eton blue and brown racing siiks to victory in the Gloucester Handicap for three-year-olds which featured the card. The winner, carrying 117 pounds, mainly in the person of "Babe" Hanford, drove home a neck in front of J. Y. Christmas Rough Time. The latter is a mighty good colt off the testimony of this race. He was picking up twenty pounds over the weight he carried in his second to Bill Farnsworth in the Decoration Day Handicap. He set all the pace" and held on doggedly, but the weight was just a little too much for him. A. C. Norris brown racer, Guy Fawkes, was third as they passed the judges, tiring,, at the end to finish a little over two lengths off the runner-up. He had forced the pace most closely from the start. The public made? Rough Time and Guy Fawkes virtually equal choices in the race and it appeared -cr a while that the event would resolve itself into a two-horse contest. SPARKLING CONTEST. Rough Time began fast and took the lead immediately. Guy Fawkes did not leave his rail station so alertly vbut he flew past horses to challenge the leader before they had gone a hundred yards. The pair went down the back stretch far in front of all rivals with Rough Time showing in front by about a length. On the turn, Lynch bore down on Guy Fawkes and he cut down the distance that separated him from the pacemakers. Just before they straightened out Rough Time bore out slightly, leaving an opening next to the rail for Guy Fawkes. Lynch attempted to drive through but Luther closed the hole with Rough Time. Guy Fawkes went past his rival and the pair came into the stretch closely locked. Just past the eighth post Black Look began his bid. He1 swept up extremely fast and caught Guy Fawkes before they reached the sixteenth post He passed that tiring racer. Then he set sail for the leader. They battled it out head and head until they were some twenty yards from the finish. There Black Look surged by and drew off slightly from his persistent rival. Intermittent showers fell throughout the afternoon but did not affect track conditions. The feature was run in 1:11.
