CEASE FIRE WINS THRILLER Outstays Silver Jubilee in Prince of Wales Plate on Final Day at Woodbine Park. TORONTO, Ont., June 8. H. R. Bains Cease Fire, bay gelded son of Worthmore 7 Flanders Fields, which finished second to Goldzure in the running of the Kings Plate at Woodbine, accounted for the sixth running of the Prince of Wales Plate in thrilling fashion when he raced the Parkwood Stables Silver Jubilee into defeat in the first mile and drew clear inside the final sixteenth to have a length and one-quarter advantage at the end of the mile and a sixteenth. Two and one-half lengths back in third place came H. C. Hatchs Goster, a neck before R. W. R. Cowies Aldwych. Cease Fire was well ridden by the veteran C. Critchfield, and raced the distance in 1:47- over a lightning fast track. Another large crowd was in attendance as the final day of the meeting drew to a close. The meeting, although marred by Saturdays i display, was the best enjoyed by the association in some time. The feature carried the value of ,500 added, of which the winners share was ,000. There i,vas a. delay at the start ,of eight minutes when Goster, Toike Oike, Dalamac and Aldwych were unruly, but the field was dispatched in good order with the exception of Goster, which broke in the air. Cease Fire was the one to show the most early foot and outran Silver Jubilee to the first turn. Straightening out on the back stretch, Black, astride the Parkwood color bearer, drove through next to the inner rail while Dalamac raced into third place and Goster followed fast after his poor start into fourth position. Leaving the half mile ground and rounding the turn, it developed into a two-horse race and as the final quarter was reached, Silver Jubilee and Cease Fire drew away by six lengths with the former still slightly in command. They raced side by side entering the final sixteenth. Silver Jubilee began to tire and Critchfield sent the Bain colt into the lead and drew clear to open up a lead as the finish was reached.
