The latter acted badly while at the starting gate for the Quickstep Handicap, and got away poorly. Jockey Eddy Yager, Latonia boy, who rode with much success in eastern tracks for C. H. Knebelkamp last summer, made his initial appearance of the meeting, when he rode Gay Troubadour in the third and Dellor in the Preparation Purse Tuesday. It is probable he will ride Dellor in the Derby. Apprentice Jerry Gardelle escaped without injuries when he was unseated from a horse he was exercising Tuesday morning. The flighty animal ran into the rail with the young rider. Jack Howard announced that he had dis- posed of the sprinter Gen. Greenock, giving the son of Greenock to Mrs. M. Shropshire of Lexington, Ky., where the horse will be shipped shortly. Gen. Greenock came out of his race Monday with a bucked shin and was extremely lame. The veteran turfman Joe Neel came from Chicago with the two platers, Harem Queen and Penurious. The latter has been inactive for some time, but Neel is hopeful of getting her to the races shortly A. L. Taylor, Columbus, Ohio, turfman, announced that apprentice Andy Laturco is not in his employ and is in no way connected with the stable of Mrs. A. L. Taylor.
