ARLINGTON STAKES ENTRIES Inaugural Handicap Attracts Total of Fifty-three Nominations. Forty-Eight Named for 0,000 Arlington Handicap, One of the Features of Closing Day Program. Speed stars and stayers from the leading stables of America are listed in the nominations for the opening and closing features of the Arlington Park meeting, the ,000 added Inaugural Handicap, at seven ; furlongs, on June 28, and the 0,000 Arlington Handicap, at a mile and a quarter, on July 31. They were released by racing secretary Charles J. MeLennan here Monday. Both of these stakes attracted more nominations than last year. The Inaugural has attracted fifty-three nominations, fourteen more than last year, and the Arlington Handicap, which shares the limelight with the richly endowed Futurity on closing day, has drawn forty-eight, eight more than in 1936. The Inaugurals added money was raised from ,500 and the Arlingtons added prize raised from 0,000 to 0,000. Also announced today were the nominations for the ,500 Hyde Park Stakes, for two-year-olds, at five and a half furlongs, on July 10. Seventy were named for this fixture.
