PRINCE DANNY was placed forwardly from the start, disposed of LORD TOURNAMENT for the command and met determined opposition from BALKANESE, holding him safe to the end. The latter went into contention with a rush, made a bold attempt nearing the eighth post, moved up briefly and, despite being placed under punishment, was unable to improve his position in the last sixteenth. JOLLY was shuffled back and, caught in close quarters during the first three-sixteenths, moved up fast when obtaining clear sailing and finished with good energy. CHARWITCH was well placed throughout. LORD TOURNAMENT was under pressure in gaining a slight lead early and faltered in the last five-sixteenths. LONG BIT, in closest pursuit of the early pace established by HASTY HANNA, took the lead when the latter began shortening strides, drew away into a good lead and, tiring through the last sixteenth, was doing her best to hold NOTICE ME safe. The latter was far back early, began improving its position near the far turn, worked its way through the field and was overtaking the winner rapidly at the end. TVO EDGED was well placed throughout. BEVEAU, outpaced early, closed a good gap. CANDAR was restrained while holding a prominent position, made his effort to reach the leader midway of the turn, moved up stoutly only to falter in the drive through the last three-sixteenths. TUTTICURIO suffered from interference at the . first turn and never could enter into serious contention. BRYONIN was in closest pursuit of the early pace, raced to the front when wearing down RETLAW for the command, straightened out in the stretch and, hard ridden, held sway to the end. LIBERTY SCOUT was slow to settle into his best stride, was sent up on the outside and, despite vigorous urging through the stretch, was unable to reach the winner. PAPA JACK, reserved early while racing well placed, came through on the inside in the stretch and held on with determination in the drive. RETLAW displayed good speed in pacemaking, only to tire in the last three-sixteenths. COLD BREEZE was unable to keep up. JOCKIDE was outrun throughout. Scratched 43765 Liberty Flight, 108. The latter, under steadying reserve for the first three-eighths, moved up on the outside when making her effort, finished gamely under urging, but was unable to reach the winner. SUN CELERINA was away fast, lacked speed to maintain her position, although closing with splendid energy in the stretch drive. LADY BEWITHUS was well placed but unable to improve her position. BLACK MISTRESS displayed keen speed in the pacemaking, but quit badly in the last sixteenth. Overweight Beauedwina, 1 pound. Continued on twenty-sixth page. BLACKBIRDER trailed for the greater part of the trip, began moving up on the outside leaving the back stretch and, despite closing willingly, was unable to endanger the first two". BUN moved up on the outside nearing the far turn, although unable to close any appreciable ground in the last quarter mile. CALEB took command going to the first turn, opened up a good lead only to falter in the last three-sixteenths. HOT CAKE was outrun. The latter raced forwardly early but could not keep up" with the winner in the final drive. ROYAL TREAD showed a good effort. PLUCKY BABY raced well.
