t LATONIA TURF NOTES : d Asa Harned moved his stable of racers to Douglas Park for a few weeks rest before being transferred to Dade Park for campaigning during the meeting which gets under vay on August 6. Col. Matt J. Winn, president of Churchill Powns-Latonia Inc., returned from Chicago where he spent two weeks and waxed optimistic over the prospects for the forthcoming session at Lincoln Fields. Apprentice Jerry Gardelle, who has been leased to J. C. Gillem for the Latonia meeting, will report to his contract employer, Otto Bagley, at Arlington Park following the close of the current session here. R. L. Stivers, Lexington tobacco grower and sportsman, is pointing Don Moss for his engagement in the Cincinnati Trophy, which comes up for decision next Saturday at Latonia. The Cincinnati Trophy, Independence Handicap and Latonia Oaks are the remaining stakes fixtures on the program at the historic old course and large fields of top-notchers are in prospect for each. Charles Nolte, track superintendent at Latonia, is contemplating a trip to Hot Springs following the close of the season here.
