Royal Vin-! tage, seven-year-old son of Spey Pearl and Jesava, sporting the red and white silks of A. J. Sansone, popular Hamilton sportsman, was returned a handy winner over Movie-man and five other good distance performers in the running of the British Consuls Handicap, a gallop of one mile and a six-. teenth, which featured the inaugural days program. The winner finished a good length in front of the Parkwood Stables Epicurus. Another half length separated the Cosgrave Stables Jack Patches, which came from last position to finish fourth. The winner paid his many backers slightly better than even money, and covered the distance in 1:4616. The sport of kings was welcomed back today under the most ideal conditions. One t of the largest crowds that ever visited the I grounds witnessed the sport and a series I of spirited finishes kept the huge attend-- arice at fever pitch. A full hour before post time for the initial offering, the fans began to gather and it was officially anounced that no fewer than 8,000 were on hand when the festivities began.
