PRAIRIE KING went to the front at once and, meeting with little opposition, was never in serious danger. PORTFOLIO was permitted to drop far back in the early running and closed with a belated rush in the middle of the track. CASSADA made a brief move approaching the stretch turn, then tired. LITTLE BUBBLES raced well to be close up in the early running. ANA X. lacked speed and turned in a poor effort. BLINDFOLD was taken up when in close quarters at the start and, racing in the middle of the track, displayed but little speed at any time. PUMICE STONE tired. DEE DEE W. lacked early speed, moved into a contending position after going a half mile, finished gamely in the drive, but was not good enough. SAUCY MARIA, well placed in the early running, dropped back on the lower turn, came on again in the stretch and was going well at the end. THORESE GIRL, prominent in the early running, closed well. INDEPENDENT WAY showed early speed in the pacemaking, but tired badly in the closing eighth. CATWALK quit. FLABBERGAST showed a dull effort. Overweight Independent Way, 2 pounds; Creole Beauty, 2. MIANNE, outrun early, moved up gamely when urged, finished fast in the stretch, wore down RUCKUS and was going away at the end. RUCKUS, well placed in the early running, took the lead with a rush on the lower turn, drew clear entering the stretch, but tired in the final eighth. FOB, well up early, dropped back on the lower turn, came on again in the stretch and closed with a rush. WEEDIDIT started slowly, moved up fast after going a half mile, was in close quarters on the lower turn and was going well at the end. WESTPORT gained steadily after going a half mile but tired in the closing eighth. CATERER quit. Scratched 43038 Thomas Jr., 104. Overweight Mianne, 1 pound.
