STALL INJURY RUINS UNBEATEN SENSATION Stable accidents have ruined hosts and 1 hosts of horses, including many of the best ones. Take, for instance, Sensation, who was our first great, unbeaten two-year-old, winning eight straight races and never meeting anything that could really threaten him. He finished his campaign perfectly sound, and everybody began to predict what a wonderful three-year-old he would be. But he never started again. One day during the following winter he hurt one of his legs in his stall. At the time it was not supposed to amount to anything, but it ruined Sensation. He was of the same year as Luke Blackburn. The next season, as a three-year-old, Blackburn established a record that has never since been equalled. He started in twenty-four races and won twenty-two of them, of which fourteen were stakes. But those who knew Sensation averred that if hed been able to meet his engagements there would have been another story to tell. 1
