The latter worked her way forward steadily, was guided to the outside in the stretch and closed fastest of all. MONTMARY, never far hack and steadied along for five-eighths, finished well. JULES LAZARD closed with a rush. THE MAYOR was in close quarters early and tired. GAY BILL raced wide and showed little. EYE JAY and BABY WAY quit. BLACK SLEEVE, unable to improve its early position, was caught in close quarters approaching the stretch, came fast when clear and finished strongly. LINAS SON tired after improving her position. AZUCAR, far back for seven-eighths, moved up fast thereafter, was in close quarters nearing the final eighth and came fast when clear. PROFESSOR PAUL, outrun for seven-eighths, weaved his way through the field when improving his position and finished strongly. WHOPPER, hustled along from the start, was unable to threaten the winner and tired after a mile. SIR JIM JAMES made up ground on the outside.
