WEST COAST RACE PROSPECTS Bay Meadows Handicap Will Have a Value of 0,000 Should Kayak n. Go to Post. SAN MATEO, Calif.-, April 27— General manager William P. Kyne expects to jam over 30,000 turf patrons into his Bay Meadows track on Charity Day, May 21. Kyne has received official permission from the California Horse Racing Board to hold racing on the Sunday and will stage the Bay Meadows Handicap, most important event of the northern California racing season on that date. . Hope that Kayak II. would be a starter in the Bay Meadows Handicap was held by i Kyne, although he seemed doubtful of ob-| taining the services of Main Man,, which is now quartered at Hollywood Park. If Kayak II. starts in the Bay Meadows Handicap, the purse for the race will be 0,000. Jf the Santa Anita Handicap winner does not go postward, the purse will be ,000. The staging of the Bay Meadows Handicap on May 21 means that it will be moved back from May 13 and will be preceded by the Golden Gate Handicap, a mile affair, which is to be staged Saturday, May 20. Other stakes at the Bay Meadows meeting aside from the Speed Handicap, which was run on opening day, are the San Mateo Handicap, April 29, the Stockton Handicap, May 6, and the Oakland Handicap, May 27. Because the Memorial Dav date has been transferred to Hollywood Park, the Memorial Day Handicap has been cancelled. j Two-year-old racing will be staged for the first time on any California track this year at Bay Meadows next Tuesday afternoon, and as the juveniles have had the benefit of considerable schooling, and many are stabled on the grounds, the initial fields may be large. •
