1 JAMAICA TURF NOTES ° s . $ Frank Hastings resigned as trainer of the J. W. Denequolo stable and will seek other connections this week. Jockey K. McCombs left for Narragansett Park and will ride at that meeting. Art Wentzell made his first appearance since an automobile accident in North Carolina two years ago. He suffered a broken vertebrae in that spill. Exercise boy Darnley Hotlerg was thrown from a horse Wednesday morning and suffered a broken leg and fractured shoulder. He was removed to Mary Immaculate Hospital for treatment. Five horses which I. Bieber purchased In South America last winter are due in New York Thursday. The horses will be transferred to Jamaica and freshened up and later placed in training for late summer racing. There were two claims in the first race Wednesday. Mintson was claimed by B. F. Christmas from J. B. Partridge for ,500, * while Bareback, in the stable of Mrs. E. D. Jacobs, was claimed by Blanche Levy for ,500. Dr. C. A. Strube of the Los Angeles Turf Club, was an arrival. Frank Kearns, after a one-day visit here, left for Baltimore. He will start the Calumet Stables Bull Lea in the Philadelphia Handicap at Havre de Grace on Saturday. The Widener Cup winner will next be seen in the Dixie and then the Metropolitan at Belmont Park.
