GLENBROOM raced to the front during the opening sixteenth, met determined opposition from COUNT COTTON during the opening three-eighths, drew clear before going a half mile and heH comrrand to the end. COUNT COTTON was well placed all the way and held on with good courage to the close. MIXED WEATHER, ■well placed and slightly restrained during the run through the back stretch, responded gamely to punishment and moved up briefly nearing the turn, but was unable to keep up during the last three-sixteenths. PEPPER PATCH closed a good gap after being outpaced early. JESSIE V. L. was unable to reach the loaders. LADDIE STONE was hard ridden while holding to a forward position, then tired during the last fiva-sixteenths. JANE VITO, quickest to begin, drew clear in the opening three-sixteenths and, rated along under slight restraint, was doing her utmost at the close" to hold ON THE DOT safe. The latter followed along in closest pursuit of the pace and was gaining steadily through the closing stages. LEGERDEMAIN raced forwardly placed throughout and held on well after saving all possible ground. MINIMUM, hard hustled to gain a prominent position early, was unable to close any ground on the leaders when placed under punishment. CROWNING GLORY was unable to enter into serious contention. GOSTER unseated his rider several times while at the post and lacked speed to enter into contention, dropping back in the ruck throughout. THIRD RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. SAYITAR gained command when MINSTREL WIT began tiring, but tired suddenly under punishment in the. last seventy yards. OUR LADDIE, slow to begin and outrun during the first five-eighths, closed with a rush. BRANCH WATER had early speed. MINSTREL WIT quit badly. Overweight — Arabic, 3jr pounds. NICHOLAS S., fortunate in obtaining clear sailing on the inside in the run through the back stretch," continued to save all possible ground, disposed of PHARABOY for the lead, drew clear and had enough in reserve to hold PETER ARGO safe. The latter was slow to begin and, unable to gain racing room early, moved up steadily, then drove through on the inside on the stretch turn and was overtaking the winner steadily at the end. SHORT CAKE was hard hustled to gain a brief lead at the close of the first quarter mile and dropped back rounding the turn, but closed with "good energy in the stretch drive. PHARABOY had speed from the start and tired in the closing drive. MODERN YOUTH, taken to the outside when reaching the stretch, finished in determined fashion. SUGARAGE was unable to better her position. GRISETTE raced well for the first half mile. FERDINAND was unable to engage the leaders. SWAHILI, unruly at the post, was started outside the stalls, raced into command straightening out in the back stretch, opened up a good lead and, rated along under slight reserve, was ridden out smartly through the last eighth to hold SOMALI safe. The latter was eased back going to the first turn, was sent up on the outside in the run through the back stretch and made a bold effort to catch the leader, but was not good enough. HOLLUSCHICKIE was slow to settle into his stride and trailed his field from the back stretch, then moved up gamely on the outside and closed with good energy. WEEKLY STIPEND was far back throughout. LITTLE BANNER trailed her fipld early, as usual, but moved up with a rush on the outside leaving the back stretch and went into an pasy lead before reaching the stretch, drawing out as if outclassing her opponents at the end. THE MAULER, under slight reserve while following along within striking distance of the pace, moved up willing when called upon but was no match for the winner when challenged. WROUGHT IRON dropped back in the-run through the back stretch but responded to punishment and closed eamply. QUICK ACTION was forwardly placed for three-quarters but tired in the drive. SOME BOY was a trailer for most of the trip, making up some ground during the stretch run. SILENT SHOT was never a factor. BOB C. dropped back steadily during the last quarter mile. COUNTRY LASS, slow to besin, moved up steadily after coins: thrpe-eiehths, saved eround into the stretch and closed courageously. TIME CLOCK, undpr steadyint; reserve while following in near pursuit of the pace, tired under pressure in the final three-sixteenths. FOREIGN LEGION closed a good gap after trailing his field leaving the back stretch. OUR TEDDY was unable to reach contention. TOBACCO was outrun. TIEMPO was never prominent.
