1 • 1 SUFFOLK DOWNS NOTES — $ The entries of all thoroughbreds that have bled since January 1, 1939, will be refused, by-order of the stewards. Singers Folly, Upside Down and Sun Antioch will not be permitted to race until they have been examined and passed upon by the veterinarian, by order of ,the stewards. Miss Betty Bell, daughter of the publicity director at the track, celebrated her nineteenth birthday Thursday by entertaining a party of friends at dinner in the clubhouse. She is a studenfat Lasell Junior College. Word was received from Thomas F. She-han, former publicity aid at Suffolk Downs, saying that he expects to be East for the running of the Massachusetts Handicap. Barry Fitzgerald and Eddie Dowling, the former star, the latter the producer of the Pulitzer Prize play, "White Steed," visited Suffolk Downs today as guests of Joseph P. Tomasello, track superintendent, a lifelong friend of Dowling. Several principals and members of the cast, accompanied them. Turf writers everywhere will be sorry to learn of the illness of Jack Kenney, sports editor of the Lowell Evening Sun,
