BEGIN SCHOOLING AT OMAHA Arrival of Noel Chilcutts Assistants Results in Barrier Activities. 1 More Than Three Hundred Horses at Ak-Sar-Ben Track and Others Continue ■ to Arrive Daily. OMAHA, Neb., May 18.— The arrival of two of Noel Chilcutts assistant starters yesterday was the signal for real schooling sessions for the thoroughbreds stationed at Ak-Sar-Ben Field, waiting the opening of the annual race meet here on May 27. The members of Chilcutts crew who started work yesterday are George Kidd and Paul Noble. They immediately posted notice of schooling hours, and had their first session this morning from the Bahr starting gate, which has been installed in the three-quarters chute. Starter Chilcutt himself will be along In the next few days, to personally take charge of the schooling of "green," or recalcitrant horses. The arrival of thoroughbreds for the opening a week from Saturday continues at record proportions. Track superintendent Jim Ronin says there are more than 300 horses already stabled, and more pouring in every day. To accommodate the many horsemen and their employes, new comfort stations are being installed throughout the stable area. Racing secretary Ben Holmes left Tuesday night for St. Louis where he. will spend several days contacting the horsemen at Fairmount Park who have stall reservations here. Holmes will be joined at St. Louis by A. J. Heffernan, his assistant. They will return to Omaha Saturday morning.
