A. F. OF L. PLANS COURT FIGHT WASHINGTON, D. C, May 18.— Charging an attempt by John L. Lewis to set up a CIO dictatorship in the vast coal industry, the A. F. of L. today disclosed that it would institute court suits in an attempt to invalidate the union shop contracts between Lewis United Mine Workers and soft coal operators. That the court suits would be filed was revealed by Joseph Ozanic, president of the A. F. of L.s Progressive Mine Workers Union, as he arrived in Washington for a "council of war" with William Green, A. F. of L. president. Both Lewis and the coal operators will be named defendants in the suits, Ozanic asserted. Branding the union shop as illegal under the Wagner Act, Ozanic disclosed that actions against Lewis and coal mine owners also would be filed before the National Labor Relations Board.
