CREATION OF INDEPENDENT PALESTINE STATE PLANNED LONDON, England, May 18 — Despite bitter criticism from both Jewish and Arabian quarters, the British government will press forward with its plan for creation of an independent Palestine state within ten years, informed quarters said today. Government spokesmen declared Britain will retain complete control over the Holy Land pending its independence, after which Palestine will be tied to Britain by a pact protecting British interests and United States commercial developments. The governments plan providing for immigration of 75,000 more Jews into Palestine within five years, after which time further Jewish settlement will cease, with Arabs holding a two-to-one majority over Jews, was announced in a White Paper, which drew the fire of the Jewish agency for Palestine. The agency denounced the scheme as a breach of faith and a surrender to Arab terrorist tactics, which have kept the Holy Land in strife for a number of years. Jewish circles declared they would combat the plan in parliament and elsewhere and would consider themselves justified in breaking and evading the new Palestine immigration laws because they are arbitrary and unjustified.
