| I i | j ONE AMERICAN DERBY HORSE William Woodwards Hypnotist Lone Yankee Epsom Representative. Bred by New York Banker in Ireland and Has Recently Won Over the Derby Distance. Special Cablegram. NEWMARKET, England, May 18— Only one American-owned horse, William Woodwards Hypnotist, figures among the twenty-nine final acceptances for the Derby Stakes, to be run over the famous Epsom course of one mile, four furlongs and five yards, May 24. Final acceptances were made today. Hypnotist, a recent winner over the full Derby distance, and the second choice in the ante-post betting, is a son of the 1933 Derby winner, Hyperion, and the American-bred mare, Flying Gal II. He was bred by his owner in Ireland at the Middleton Park stud in County Westmeath, where he was foaled and reared, until sent as a yearling to the Free Mason Lodge stables of Captain Cecil Boyd-Rochfort at Newmarket. Hypnotist raced but once as a two-year-old when he contested the six furlongs Criterion Stakes at Newmarket, October 25. Sent postward a six-to-five favorite, he went under by a neck to Edward Esmonds Fox Cub, which colt had the experience of a previous race. Hypotist started in the first classic, the j one mile Two Thousand Guineas Stakes here April 26. In this race he performed respectably by finishing a close sixth, closing much ground in the final furlong; With that tightening race under his girth, ten days later at Lingfield Park the son of Hyperion impressed favorably with an easy victory in the Lingfield Derby Trial Stakes, run over the full Derby distance of one mile and a half. This performance brought him ! into prominence in the Derby ante-post betting. DERBY ACCEPTANCES. Horse. Wt. Owner. Blue Peter 126 Lord Rosebery Admirals Walk 126 Sir J. Jarvis Fairstone 126 Sir A.
