1 DETROIT TURF NOTES $ -— — The veteran rider, Robert Tilden, under engagement to the Glad Acres Farm stable of R. B. George, Dallas, Texas, sportsman, took out a license Monday morning. Trainer John Zoeller will probably permit Tilden to accept his first mount of the meeting on the holiday card. Ty Meloche returned here from North Randall. Meloche saw the inaugural at the Cleveland track and on returning here announced he would have the mount on M. J. Schmitts Sortie Star in the Col. Alger Memorial Handicap. Five claims were filed during the first seven days of the meeting. The top claim was for Lady Flash. Mrs. H. C. Rumage put ,600 in the claim box for the former Mrs. R. B. Allen colorbearer. John liittrell, who rode Sound Wave Saturday, second longest priced winner at the meeting, rode Monday without his apprentice allowance. Liittrell is under engagement to D. B. Midkiff, Kentucky breeder and owner. First call on the services of Frankie Mas-chek has been given to Leo J. Marks, according to Howard Crawford, who is making the engagements for the New Orleans jockey.
