SARAH JUSTICE forced the pace to the final eighth, forged to the front when subjected to strong pressure and had enough left to withstand the belated rush of SON OF DAY. The latter, widely outrun for three-quarters, moved up fast thereafter, closed with a rush and was wearing down the winner. REGISTERITE, a strong factor for a mile, tired in the stretch. BROWN MAN, well up early and under strong pressure, failed to respond when placed to punishment. WEEDIDIT lacked speed throughout. Scratched— 73998 Blind Blarney, 116. TOWSON, favored by the going and displaying keen speed throughout, attained a commanding lead early, but was under strong pressure to hold FOOTWORK safe. The latter improved his position gradually, responded to pressure, closed with good courage, but was overmatched. WOODBRIDGE, well up most of the way, tired in tho stretch. POMPOUS GENIE forced the pace most of the way, but failed to rally to strong riding. OFF DUTY failed to be dangerous. Scratched— 72517 Package, 110. Corrected weight — Footwork, 110. LUCKY CARGO moved up fast approaching the stretch, drew out slowly in the final stages and won without need of pressure. SASSAFRAS, acting kinder than usual and away in Stride, moved to the front when ready, bore out badly entering the stretch and failed to meet the demands when subjected to strong pressure. GUSTAVIA, on the inside most of the way, failed to respond to pressure. SAN ARDO had no excuse. LITTLE KIEV was outpaced. FREEZE showed nothing. Overweight — Alberta B., 2 pounds. Corrected weight — Brigler, 112.
