DOUBLE FOR CONNIE SMYTHE Shoeless Joe Completes the Two -Ply-Score by Winning Lou Marsch Memorial at Thorncliffe Park. TORONTO, Ont., May 29.— Shoeless Joe carried the blue and white silks of C. Smythe to their second victory of the day in the Lou Marsh Memorial. Ridden by C. Mc-Tague, the seven-year-old son of Black Servant held a length advantage before the Med-way Stables William Palmer at the end of the six furlongs. Third place went to H. R. Bains Sir Bevidere, two lengths back and a head before Traffic Light, from the stable of G. H. Ellis. Shoeless Joe carried top weight of 117 pounds and raced the distance in 1:14%, and went on out a mile in 1:43 in the heavy, holding going. It was McTagues second winning ride of the afternoon, he having piloted Skating Mad to victory in the running of the juvenile event. A crowd of eight thousand was on hand foi: the Monday opening of the seven-day season of the Thorncliffe Park spring meeting. Sunny skies prevailed, with a cool wind sweeping the course, while the track was heavy and holding.
