C-NOTE TOPS MEMORIAL FIELD Ten of~ Eleven Nominees Named for Clevelands Attraction. North Randall Anticipates Record Holiday Throng— Janice One of Probable Public Favorites. CLEVELAND, Ohio, May 29.— Ten of the eleven nominees for the ,500 added Memorial Day Handicap, feature attraction of the Cleveland Jockey Clubs holiday program tomorrow afternoon, were named in the overnight entries to compete in the six furlongs dash, with Sonada Stables C-Note, a Milky Way castoff, drawing the top impost of 120 pounds. . C-Note performed with consistency during the recent Beulah Park meeting and is a prime fa/orite with racing fans of the eye State as a result of having trounced some of the most formidable handicap sprinters in this territory in the past, and is pected to share favoritism with Smith G. Baker, Sr.s Janice, which will shoulder a burden of 112 pounds, while Mrs. A. M. Creechs Dusky Prince is destined to pack 114 pounds. INTEREST SHOWN. The Memorial Day Handicap, which is the second of eight stakes offered, headlines a well-balanced program of eight races that will be offered racing enthusiasts, and much interest is being displayed at the renovated North Randall course, indicating that the attendance is likely to surpass the 12,000 mark, that number having been present on opening day last Saturday. In addition to the foregoing trio, which are likely to command the most support in the wagering, are High One, Col. Scott, Busy Morn, Star Lina, Miss Premier, Jean Lee and Gato. The ten entrants represent eight different interests, in view of the fact, that Mrs. Creech has Dusky Prince and Gato to choose from, while Mrs. W. C. Weant is represented by Jean Lee and Miss Premier. DUSKY PRINCE FIT. Dusky Prince made his debut in the Inaugural Handicap and displayed a good turn of speed for three-quarters of the mile .and one-sixteenth journey last Saturday, and it was clearly indicates that Mrs. Creechs colorbearer will be better suited by the dash distance and is being counted on to furnish the chief contention for C-Note and Janice, held in highest esteem of the handicappers. Under favorable weather and track conditions a field of at least eight is anticipated as starters in the mile sprint occupying sixth position on the program, and under these circumstances the track standard for the six furlongs is almosf certain to be lowered. Supporting the . headline race are seven other events of merit, and, while the contestants do not engage the most representative thoroughbreds quartered at the local course, they provide, some well-matched fields which should be productive of interesting and entertaining competition.
