IDLE PRATTLE took command from the beginning and increased her advantage steadily thereafter under brisk handling. COLONEL READ was sent into closer contention after a half-mile but lacked a closing rally. LAIRDS CAT came out for the drive and closed willingly but was not good enough. HAPPY PAT, closer up earlier than usual, flattened out under punishment. CONTORTIONIST was outrun as was ROMANCE HILL. AUNT BEEBA was forced to take up on the near turn when in close quarters. FLASH FLOOD, FRACTIOUS AT THE POST, INJURED HIS RIDER IN THE GATE AND WAS ORDERED SCRATCHED. ALL WAGERS ON FLASH FLOOD WERE ORDERED REFUNDED BY THE STEWARDS. Scratched-74154 Flash Flood, 108. FANASH made the pace to the stretch under steady rating and drew clear when ridden out. NEAT AND TIDY raced in close pursuit of the winner after a quarter but could not reach the latter when hard ridden through the stretch. ZACA GIRL, much used engaging for the early advantage, had little left at the finish. SIDNEY SUE came to the inside for the drive but tired under pressure. LEO RED broke alertly but was never dangerous thereafter. SPEED PLAY caught tiring horses. CORNER STAR raced wide. LADY ALLEN was done early. MASTER INSC0 showed nothing. THIRD RACE 5-8 MILE. CLEAR REQUEST went into a clear lead early, held a commanding lead when settled in the stretch, then held his opposition under pressure. SPURCHASE steadily improved his position while lugging in through the final eighth and could .not get to the winner. SKY MUSIC was rushed into contention going into the first turn and, though no match for the winner, held on tenaciously. CROSS WAVE failed to stay after showing good speed. CH0MBR0 was never formidable. WONDER SIR was pinched back soon after the break, losing all chance. MAHPLAY had no mishaps. DR. CRICKET showed nothing. Scratched— The Reaper, 118. White; bred by Raymond White. WENT TO P0ST-3:28. OFF AT 3:29 CENTRAL STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; seconds the same. FLARE MONTE, unhurried when outrun for a half mile, came between horses when set down for the drive and, after reaching the lead midway of the final furlong, held on willingly to repel the others. RELIC DAZE gradually worked her way forward, responded gamely when roused for the stretch run and was up in the final strides to dead-heat with GOOD HEAVENS. The latter faltered slightly during the final stages, but lasted to finish on even terms with RELIC DAZE. TOP SOLDIER came out for the drive and closed resolutely in a sharp effort. MALVERN lacked a rally. ENGELS BLUE gave way suddenly when asked for his best effort. CHAR-LAW was outrun. NEWL00K was through early. MY FUTURE tired. BLESURHEART stopped badly. GRAND BARTER, came to the outside for the stretch run, bore in on B0NRILLA who, in turn, bumped PNUT VENDOR, then took command midway of the final furlong and drew clear under punishment ZOOM, probably best, moved up boldly on the outside nearing tthe three-sixteenths marker, was forced to take up sharply when in close quarters, closed determinedly when clear and was getting to the winner. PNUT VENDOR encountered slight interference when making his final bid. BONRILLA was pinched back when GRAND BARTER came over entering the stretch and was unable to recover. MARTIN WHELAN was outrun. TRY IKE, away alertly, gave way to UNION JOE between calls entering the stretch, continued on gamely when apparently beaten by the latter, regained command when UNION JOE sulked and lasted over SISTER CORA. The latter was never far back, closed well under punishment and just missed. UNION JOE went to the front with a rush nearing the furlong marker to take a clear lead, sulked under punishment in the late stages and, under severe punishment about the head, could not withstand the leaders. SPIZERINKTOM closed a gap after being outrun early. R0UNDELEER was never dangerous. OUR PIGEON never menaced. Overweight— Our Pigeon, 1 pound. For late charts see tomorrows issue
