Pellicle at Detroit Course To Seek Michigan Mile FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., May 18. — Headed by Pellicle, a prominent candidate for the Michigan Mile and the victor in the 1947 renewal of the -Grassland Handicap at Arlington Park, 10 members of the Hal Price Headley stable are now quartered at the local course. Along with Pellicle is the useful stakes performer, Plumper, winner of the Charles W. Bidwill Memorial Handicap at Hawthorne in 1947. The entire Headley unit is made up of thoroughbreds bred and foaled at Beaumont Farm, Lexington, Ky. Lithe, crack three-year-old filly and a nominee for Saturdays Royal Oak Stakes; Catsmeow, Gobbler, High Cotton, Acme, Volunteer, Shake Me and Didapper are scheduled to carry Headleys popular blue and white silks at the current Motor City meeting and all shipped here in good condition. Allen Hultz is conditioning the Kentucky-owned establishment.
