Bubble Gum After Sixth Accounting! "Goes in Whiskery At Churchill Oval Recent Claim of Sam Wilson | Has Shifty Foes in Trixie, Dicks Gal and Lady Joan CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., i May 18. — The Whiskery Purse, named for the 1927 Kentucky Derby winner, occupies the spotlight on tomorrows program here. ! Nine capable sprinters, racing in eight in- j terests, were named to contest the six-furlong event which is fashioned for three- « year-olds and upward* The contest should : prove rather interesting due to the evenly balanced field. Under the allowance conditions of the : Whiskery, Mrs. E. Farris Dicks Gal will parade postward under the top burden of 116 pounds, but the role of favorite will probably rest on the sturdy shoulders of Sam E. Wilson, Jr.s, recently claimed Bubble Gum, who has been assigned the second highest impost of 115. Brown and Woods Lady Joan, Mrs. V. E. Smiths Spring Chimes, Shady Brook Farms Cleve-lander, Leo J. Hollenbachs Elder Brook, Mrs. Jake Lowensteins Trixie and Mrs. Leo Wagners formidable entry of Jimpin and My Sister, make up the remainder of the field. Claimed Again Last Friday Bubble Gum, winner of his last five starts, has had three owners since the beginning of the Blue Grass spring season and was procured by his new owner from Mrs. A. M. Creech following his latest victorious effort in a sprint test on last Fridays card. n Trixie, a favorite of the local patrons, should furnish chief contention to the Wilson color-bearer off her best effort. Lady Joan, under her modest assessment of 100 pounds, could easily earn the major share of the ,000 purse. Dicks Gal, in contrast to Lady Joan, has found the Churchill Downs track a bit difficult to handle. Spring Chimes possesses a world of speed and may carry the other front runners at such a terrific -pace that the race may be run to the specific liking of the late closing Trixie. Elder Brook has been working cleverly following several months of inactivity but hardly appears to be able to turn back the stellar contingent against whom she was asked to match strides in tomorrows feature. The Wintergreen Purse at six furlongs brings together a band of seven three- and four-year-old maidens. Augustus and Nahms Scapagal, Welikit Farms Dare He Is and John Marschs Untouchable head the group which also includes Sunny Boo, Pebbles Hour, Isa Princess and Dr. David Hill.
