William H. Bishop Takes Over Training of E. C. Roth Stable WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., May 18.— Edwin C. Roth, Chicago coal merchant and sportsman, today announced that he has signed William Hal Bishop to take over the training of his entire stable. The agreement was effected yesterday and Bishop had the horses under his supervision this morning. Bishop has been singularly successful as an owner-trainer since he entered the thoroughbred sport several years ago. At one time he operated one of the largest horse and mule selling agencies in America. He gave up that business to enter thoroughbred racing as an active owner and trainer, and, during the last three years, he has sent more winners postward than any other trainer in Illinois. This is the first time since he entered the sport on a large scale that he has accepted a position to train for outside interests, although it is reported that he has had numerous attractive offers. Bishop will continue to train the powerful stable that races under his colors here.
