Expect Longacres Meeting Will Operate as Scheduled SEATTLE, Wash., May 18.— In a telephone conversation this morning with William Fitzgerald, chairman of the Washington Horse Racing Commission, a Daily Racing Form reporter was assured that the recent controversy over the appointment of • officials between the commission and the Washington Jockey Club, operators of the Longacres race track near here, which caused the latter organization to request revocation of their license — a request immediately granted — would not prevent the opening of the Longacres meeting as scheduled. The Washington track had been granted a 5 4-day session from June 25 through September 5. Joe Gottstein, president of the Washington Club could not be reached for comment on the matter but sources close to the management stated that they expected that Gottstein would reapply for a license in a day or so. They, in addition to Chairman Fitzgerald, advised horsemen who had delayed shipping to Longacres to do so at once as the meeting without a doubt would open as scheduled.
