Narragansett Lists s Six Stake Offerings Entries for Features to Be Run at Summer Meeting Will 5 Close on Wednesday, June 1 - PAWTUCKET, R. I., May 18.— Six well 3 diversified stakes will be decided at the i Narragansett Park summer meeting, which Z opens on Wednesday, June 8 and runs through 28 racing days until Saturday, July -9. With the exception of one sprint stake i and a five and a half furlongs jaunt for ; two-year-olds, the emphasis will be on dis- tance racing at this meeting. Two events -are scheduled for three-year-olds and up- " ward to travel one mile and three-six- £ teenths; another stake sends three-year- i olds over one mile and an eighth, while a 5 filly and mare stake calls for one mile and . a sixteenth to be negotiated. * A long standing Gansett fixture, the 5 Roger Williams Handicap, opens the stake 3 program on Saturday, June 11. Thee-y ear-olds and upward are eligible and they will ; race over one mile and three-sixteenths for N 5,000 added money. ; The Providence Stakes, exclusively for i three-year-olds, is down for decision July 2; * the distance is one mile and an eighth, the added money 5,000. The Narragansett Nursery Stakes, five and a half furlongs with 0,000 added money, will be contested by two-year-olds on July 4. Nomination books shortly will be mailed to horsemen. Entries close midnight June 1st. Stakes to be run at the Narragansett summer meeting follow: June 11. — Roger Williams Handicap, 5,000, three-year-olds and upward, one mile and three-sixteenths. June 18. — Spring Handicap, ,500, three-year-olds and upward, six furlongs. June 25. — Mary Dyer Stakes, ,500, three-year-olds and upward, fillies and mares, one mile and one-sixteenth. July 2. — Providence Stakes, 5,000, three-year-olds, one mile and one-eighth. July 4. — Narragansett Nursery Stakes, 0,000, two-year-olds, five and a half furlongs. July 9. — Governors Handicap, 0,000, three-year-oids and upward, one mile and three-sixteenths.
