ROPE TRICK was under energetic handling early to gain the lead, raced true while drawing out and, under strong handling through the last eighth, held OTHELLO safe. The latter rallied gamely after a quarter and was making up ground fast at the end. EVEN LATER was well placed from the start, but when set down for the drive was not good enough. PLAY REQUEST had no apparent excuse. J0LIRAB broke alertly and gave way steadily thereafter. ITALIC broke in a tangle. TRIPLE F. broke slowly and drifted out badly in the early stages. SPINDLE outsprinted his opposition from the beginning, saved ground while being steadied along, was lightly shaken up in the early stretch and won with something in reserve. IMPUDENCE was between horses while improving his position to the stretch turn, was put to strong handling for the drive, but was unable to menace the top one. SIR GALAVAN was well placed while racing on the outside, but lacked a closing rally. FIGHTING FOOL rallied from the inside after a quarter, but commenced giving way steadily after going five-eighths. Start good from flag. Won easily; second and third driving. LE BUIS FLEURI, hard held for the first, three hurdles, improved his position steadily to the seventh hurdle, where he was roused and, under strong urging, wore down FAIR CRYSTAL soon after clearing the ninth hurdle, quickly drew out and won with something in reserve. FAIR CRYSTAL made the pace under good rating, jumped cleanly throughout, but was no match for the top one. FRERE MARKETTE made a mild rally nearing the last hurdle, but flattened out under pressure in the late stages. APRIL DIP. made up some ground after a sluggishing beginning. PORT RAIDER moved up steadily until the seventh hurdle and had nothing left when the real racing began. KNIGHTS ARMOR showed good form for the first five hurdles, then quit to a walk. RED CAMELIA broke very slowly, was badly outrun to the final quarter, found racing room on the rail when roused, closed with a belated rush and got up in the final strides. SOLID TRICK made a bold bid on entering the final quarter, took command, but hung near the end while under extreme pressure. PITY was shuffled back while racing on the outside rounding the turn, rallied under punishment when clear in the early stretch and closed a big gap. PUFFBALL was well placed from the beginning, saved ground rounding the turn and made a mild rally in the late stages. IRISH WITCH moved up strongly nearing the final furlong marker, but had nothing left for the drive. LA RIMDA gave way steadily after showing some early speed, WHIRLIMYGIG was never a contender. BLUE HILLS wrested command from the outside nearing the last quarter, drifted to the inside in the early stretch and, when headed by DRY FLY nearing the last eighth, responded readily to pressure and, under a hard drive, came again to get up in the closing strides. DRY FLY made a bold bid from the outside in the last quarter to take command nearing the last eighth, quickly drew out while bearing in and just failed to last. HARBOURTON raced a trifle wide and lacked a closing rally. FIREAGAIN made the pace under clever rating, saved ground throughout, but gave way readily when challenged. FERD broke alertly and raced with the top flight from the start, bobbled when CURTAIN RAISER came out on crossing main track but quickly recovered and, while responding readily to pressure, was best in a hard drive. NAVY CHIEF, between horses from the beginning, rallied gamely in the last quarter and narrowly missed. MORE SUN found his best stride after three-eighths and finished full of run on the rail. FOX TIME, slow to begin, was under strong handling much of the way and made a belated challenge in the late stages. OUR TOPS also made up ground fast in the late stages after a slow beginning. CURTAIN RAISER had high speed from the beginning but gave way suddenly after reaching the final furlong. WISE BULL was outrun. BLUE W. was through early. FLAMING LADY, hard held while saving ground in the first three-quarters, began to advance on the outside leaving the backstretch, was wisely brought to the rail rounding the second turn and was then eased out tetween horses to take command nearing the last quarter, then drew out gradually under continued pressure. CROESUS moved up boldly after going a mile, raced wide on the stretch turn and, under a sustained drive, held on fairly well. BILLY PERRY moved up boldly after going a mile, but flattened out under punishment in the late stages. EXCITEMENT made up some ground, but failed to seriously threaten.
