| Lady Serenata in Upset Accounting at Downs McAtee Gelding Returns 06.20 In Turning Back Fighting John CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 19. — E. B. McAtees Lady Serenata, a rank outsider in the mutuel wagering, raced to an impressive score in the third race, a six-furlong test for members of the claiming division. Fractious during the post parade, the McAtee performer more than made amends for her poor conduct while driving to a game length and one-quarter victory in advance of J. A. Kinards Fighting John, second by a half length before I. J. Collins fast-closing Balla Flight. J. A. Hikes favored Time Lark was forced to take the overland route when making his stretch bid and could finish no better than fourth in the field of nine. Under the clever guidance of the veteran reinsman, Robert Montgomery r the victress traversed the assigned distance in 1:14% and returned 06.20, 8.20 and 0.80 across the board. The earlier races on the afternoons program were conducted under partly overcast skies and a fast strip. Shortly before the fourth event, light rains began to fall but had no apparent effect upon the racing strip which was termed fast. However, a strong headwind which prevailed throughout the day-greatly retarded the running times of the performers when making their stretch runs.
