Cardinal Leeds Goes in Pace Feature at Fairmount Park COLLINSVILLE, 111., May 19.— The 19-class pace for a purse of ,000 will be raced in two heats of a mile and a mile and one-sixteenth, featured as the sixth and ninth events at Fairmount Park tomorrow evening. The field consists of 12 contenders ready for the opening gun. Most outstanding in the field is the converted pacer, Cardinal Leeds, with a previous mark at the trotting gait of 2:01%, and is now ready for his initial start in the pacing classics. This converted pacer will be backed by plenty of fast competition, such as Intangible, 2:02%; Vologda Dale, a trim number with a two-year-old mark of 2:10; Daisy Mc I Win, who raced well at Fairmount Park last fall; Golden Broom, who has been training in excellent form, and eight others that are evenly matched for the big contest. The green class trot for novice contenders finds two converted pacers, Angus Worthy and Edith Mc ready to match strides with the trotters. Angus, driven by Ken Cartnal, has earned a pacing mark of 2:02%, and the sizable sum of 0,455, is cited as a most promising "contender.
