HATIKVAH rallied to strong handling when roused on entering the last quarter, wore down RIPPLING HIT inside the last eighth and, under continued pressure, stalled off SOB STORY. The latter, slow to settle into her best stride, rallied from the inside in the late stages and was getting to the top one. RIPPLING HIT displaced GIN GIRL while under energetic handling after a quarter, but gave way under extreme pressure in the final eighth. GIN GIRL broke alertly, raced true, but quit badly when called on for her best effort. GARDEN WEEK was through early. JERSEY BOUNCE, fractious in the gate prior to the start, delayed the break for sixteen minutes while replacing her rider and, when the field broke, she failed to teach a contending position. QUIBBLE disposed of BROTHER ED after a half, drew into a short lead, but could not withstand the late challenge cf the winner. BROTHER ED had speed, saved ground throughout and gave way readily when challenged. ALSIRAL was well placed from the start while racing on the outside, but lacked a closing rally. The latter, hard held while trailing his field in the early stages, rallied from the outside after the ninth jump to move boldly to the pacemakers at the twelfth jump and, after taking command in the late stages, could not last. GALACTIC had no apparent mishap in an even effort. GENANCOKE made the pace under clever rating, jumped cleanly, but gave way suddenly when challenged on the last jump.
