J. MURPHY Staff Correspondent ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Hei III., June 22. — Twelve sturdy thoroughbreds ol better than ordinary handicap ability have been named to try for top honors in the 5,000 added Equipoise Mile, which will have its eleventh running here tomor- I row. The Hasty House Farm .stable, whose representatives have been potent factors in the Illinois stakes for older horses to date. have designated a quartet of prosepctive starters in Roman Bath, Seaward. Inseparable, and Wine List. The public stable. trained by Howard Wells will have an entry in Cutty Hunk, owned jointly by Howard Oots and James Cox Brady, and Volcanic, owned by Walmac Farm. Others en- | tered are Johns Joy, owned by J. A. Kin-ard. Arkansas cotton grower; Curandero, a representative of the King Ranch, of Texas; Miche, from the stable of Mrs. John Payson Adams, of California; Danada Gift, owned by Ada L. Rice; Mister Morgan, from the barn of J. Chambers, and Prop, wrho races for E. Constantin, Jr. Gets Pull in Weights Roman Bath, Inseparable, and Johns Joy are equally weighted for the Equipoise with 118 pounds apiece. That gives Roman Bath an eight -pound pull in the weights from his last meeting with Johns Joy, which took place in the six-furlong Myrtlewood Handicap on opening day. Johns Joy won that event by two lengths from Roman Bath. Prior to that the Hasty House star had trimmed the Kinard racer with ease in two meetings at the Lincoln Fields session. Inseparable, after winning his first start at Churchill, started out the Chicago season in a rather wobbly manner when he wa,s beaten by Mister Morgan, although awarded the purse on claim of foul. He j was latei further humiliated when trimmea by Kosadus and Mr. Fox in the Lincoln Handicap. He drops three pounds from his Lincoln race tomorrow. Won Fleming Memorial Seaward, who will carry 114, was five lengths back of Inseparable in the Lincoln Handicap, was unplaced behind Sun David and Prop in an allowance race, and finished second to Circus Clown in an allowance race. Wine List started off in good style when he won the Fleming Memorial in track-record time, but his race in the Myrtlewood Handicap was no shakes " he having finished eighth in that affair. He will have 112 pounds aboard. Miche. the gray Argentinian, comes from California and New York with an impressive record. In his last start in the East, he was second to Delegate in the Roseben and finished in front of the good sprinter Tea-Maker. In California last year he topped ihe worlds six-furlong record-holder, Bolero, the Santa Anita Handicap, winner, Mconrush, and other hoi note. Miche will be required to carry 117 pounds. Volcanic, track record holder on the grass at both Arlington and Washington Parks, is the top weight in Saturdays tilt with 120 pounds. The son of Ambrose Light will be making his first start of the year, Continued on Page Forty -Four MRS. JOHN PAYSON ADAMS— The California sportswoman will be represented by the Argentine-bred Miche in todays renewal of the Equipoise Mile. Hasty House Foursome Seeking Equipoise Mile Have Volcanic, Johns Joy, Miche To Beat at Arlington Park Today Continued from Page One but is reported fit and ready. Two years ago he amassed earnings of over 00,000 Last season he earned about 0,000. Danada Gift, a six-year-old mare, is the lightest weighted, having 104 pounds. She performed creditably against those of her own sex at Belmont Park. Mister Morgan, who will have 106 pounds up, has as his chief claim to fame his nod over Inseparable at Lincoln, although he was set back. In a later race he did not fare so well. Curandero, who will carry 114 pounds, closed considerable ground in the Myrtle-wood. That was his first start of the year. Cutty Hunk, starting for the first time in many months during the closing days at Lincoln Fields, won the Black Toney Purse from a band that included Mister Morgan He will have 106 pounds aboard. Jockey Ken Church, stable rider for Hasty House, was named to pilot Roman Bath, while Bob Baird was placed on Inseparable, and Logan Batcheller on Seaward. Johnny Adams will be up on Johns Joy, and Eddie Arcaro is expected to come from New York to ride Miche. Other reinsmen engaged are Doug Dod-son, on Volcanic; Job Jessop, on Prop, and G. Silva, on Mister Morgan. Danada Gift will be in No. 1 post position, but as the field starts from the long mile chute and goes a half mile before reaching the first bend, the stall positions do not mean so much. Mister Morgan, a horse who has shown a tendency to lug in, will start from the outside stall. Jockeys Church and Baird each have a chance to duplicate the feat of jockey F. A. Smith in winning two runnings of the Equipoise. Church won it last season with Oil Capitol, only three-year-old ever to be successful. Harry Trotsek, the Hasty House trainer, saddled Oil Capitol for that victory. The racing strip was muddy for tqdays racing and will likely be slow tomorrow if additional rain does not fall. Roman Bath, Johns Joy, Danada Gift, and Prop are regarded as the best mudders in the field. Post time for Saturday will be 1:30 p. m. and nine races will be staged.
