Mehrtens to Ride Yildiz. a grand-looking chestnut son of Mahmoud— Ace Card, ran into bad luck this spring, but not until he had accounted for three purses in five starts during the winter at Hialeah, climaxing his successful campaign with a victory in the rich Fla-mingi . ■ ice sent his earnings soaring to 5,875. He was then sent to Maryland for the Chesapeake, but injured himself the morning of that race and has not been n publicly since that time. Warren Continued on Page Three Yildiz, Repetoire Vie in Kent Stakes Former Making First Start Since Scoring in Flamingo; Thirteen Others Also Named Continued from Page One Mehrtens, who has been quite successful with the Jeffords stable this year, only last week-end winning the Oaks with Kiss Me Kate, will handle Yildiz. Repetoire, whose owner is from nearby Dover, Del., will carry considerable sentimental support, with his impressive record of five victories in seven starts, certain to gain for him additional followers. In his first four starts of the year he accounted for the Cherry Blossom, Experimental No. 1, Chesapeake and Wood Memorial Stakes. He then found the mile and a quarter of the Derby the mile and three-sixteenths of the Preakness a bit beyond his capabilities, following which he had a brief rest. Returning to action here recently, he reeled off six furlongs in 1:11 in an excellent prep affair. He will have a new rider in the Kent in capable Dave Gorman, who last week took the Belmont Stakes with Counterpoint. Hall of Fame has been a disappointment this season but seems on the improve. His most recent endeavor was in the Peter Pan at Belmont Park and he was beaten five lengths when third behind Counterpoint and Battlefield in the mile and a furlong track record time of 1:47%. Then, too. he carried only 111 pounds, which should prove of some assistance. Ted Atkinson will be down from New York for the occasion. Alerted Captured Laurel Stakes Alerted, winner of the Laurel Stakes earlier in the year, has been a busy colt, starting 17 times and winning five races. He beat as good a colt as Bold in the Preakness Prep, then was third behind that colt in the Preakness. In a surprise move, the Calumet cast-off was shipped to Suffolk Downs for an engagement in the Yankee Handicap last Monday, finishing second behind Out Point, then was returned for the Kent. Loridale and Gray Matter were shipped here from New York following victories in near track record time. Loridale was one-fifth of a second off the mile and a sixteenth standard when timed in 1:42%. while Gray Matters mile and a furlong in 1:48 5 was just two-fifths slower than the time mark for that distance. Loridale enters the frav with four consecutive victories. Gray Matter has raced but once since being claimed by his present owner for 2,500. Irritate. Evicted, Mully S., and Koritza scored victories over the local course in their most recent appearances, the former being the most impressive while touring a mile and a sixteenth in l:44y5. Senator Joe, a four-time winner this season, was second to Repetoire at six furlongs and came back to work that distance in 1:11 and some change. Combat Boots was unimpressive in his last, but prior to that turned in a sparkling effort while racing Count Turf to a close finish in a prep race for the Belmont. Acefull graduated from the maiden ranks at seven furlongs in his last, while Luckey Pete was second to Evicted and Euclid was in the runner-up spot behind Koritza.
