; i Fair Grounds Corp. Seeks Eighty-One Days of Racing NEW ORLEANS, La., June 22.— Directors of the Fair Grounds Corporation have requested 81 racing days next winter for the 1951-52 meeting that opens at the old New Orleans track Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22. The meeting, if approved, will end March 8. 1952. The season last year was of 71 days. Mardi Gras falls on a later date in 1952. Feb. 26 and a 75-day meeting would end during the carnival week. The extra days will bring the closing two Saturdays after Mardi Gras, when the Louisiana Derby is to be run. Although the New Orleans Handicap date has not been set definitely, it is expected to be run Saturday, March 1. The recent meeting of the Fair Grounds directorate saw the same board re-elected, with John S. Letel-Her as president and Anthony Pelleteri executive vice-president.
