McGUIRE Staff Correspondent LEXINGTON, Ky., June 22.— The overall 1 strength of the yearling market is depend-0 ent upon maintenance of high standards s by those breeders who have small consignments " to the sales. One such group is the e four colts and one filly offered by the e Keeneland Stud of Keene Gurnee, a thoroughbred nursery operated by the same c family since 1781. Here stand the stallions Jean Valjean and his son Side Boy. Likely to top this consignment is a handsome full brother to Pur Sang, winner this s year of the Peabody Memorial and the f Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes last fall. • He also placed in several other stakes. The J colt is by Side Boy — Contrary Mary and 1 his dams four foals all have been winners. A stout rival for the brother of Pur Sang ; for top honors in the consignment is a * black colt by Side Boy — Jane Rachel. This s robust youngster is a three-quarters brother r to Oh Leo who cut quite a swath in two-year-old circles this season by winning his S first five races, including the Duncan F. Kenner Stakes. Jane Rachel has produced j seven winners from seven starters. Attracting considerable attention also is s a fine gray colt by the Italian sire Vezzano 0 from the Jean Valjean mare Blue and Grey The other colt is a quick appearing 1 youngster of good conformation by Tiger — _ Entre Nous.
