JOLLY PET disposed of SEVENTH TRIBE to attain command on the turn and held sway thereafter under strong pressure. FACES EAST raced along the inside much of the distance and was getting to the top one. SEVENTH TRIBE continued on well after being displaced early. BUFFALO GAP was slow to respond. JUST ABBE lacked a closing drive. NUTMEG could not keep up. TURNPIKE broke slowlv and showed nothing. C0LUMCILLE quit badly through the stretch. BANNER WAVES, far back early, joined the others after the first mile while saving ground, then was under continued pressure to outfinish CROWN ROYAL. The latter rallied after a mile and a half to reach the leaders at the final fence, then was not good enough. BABS WHEY showed good speed on the flat, but jumped rather poorly at times. WHATTA KNIGHT held the lead nearing the final fence and, when placed to pressure, broke down badly and finished fourth. PAGE COUNTY set the pace for the first mile and quit. MAKE SWAY held a narrow advantage to the late stretch and gave way. HYPERPLAY, badly outrun early, closed with good energy. BATTERSEA BOX closed ground in the drive. GRASS SKIRT raced forwardly and weakened only slightly. GRANDIOSE raced wide while just off the first flight, then weakened. PETES VIGIL showed nothing. FUN FOR ALL could not keep up. RISING TEMPER, steadied while a factor early, responded to assume command in the early stretch, then lasted over ONE-0-CAT. The latter was always a threat, but could not wear down the top one. MATES BOY rallied too late and could not menace the top pair. ERNIE 0. was under steadying restraint while setting the pace and gave way through the stretch GLUE failed to threaten. NORTHMAN II. quit after engaging the leader nearing the stretch. MOFLAME again broke very badly and had no excuse. PAS DE CALAIS was through early.
