Wis. forced a postponement on the nomination of New York Police Commissioner Thomas F. Murphy to be a federal district judge. Dr. Jessup on Way Home PARIS, France, June 22.— Dr. Philip C. Jessup, U. S. Delegate to the unsuccessful Big Four deputies conference, left for home today as western diplomats charged that collapse of the talks shows Russia no longer wants a foreign ministers meeting. Jessup packed hurriedly and caught the Queen Mary boat train at 1 :25 p. m. Truman in Accord WASHINGTON, D. Says Reds Can Attack SOMEWHERE IN KOREA, June 20 Delayed by censor . — Lt. Gen. Edward Almond, commanding the 10th U. S. Army Corps, said today the Chinese Communists are capable of mounting another assault in North Korea, and probably will, but "we are ready for them anywhere." Almond said he knew nothing about peace rumors, but he thought the answer was in what Secretary of Defense George C. Marshall said on a recent visit here — the purpose of the United Nations Army in Korean is to prevent the enemy from again invading South Korea. _ End Week-Old Strike NEW YORK, N. Y., June 22.— CIO radio operators ended a week-old strike against Pacific Coast ship owners yesterday, but negotiators in the East Coast CIO maritime strike remained deadlocked. Groesz Confesses BUDAPEST, Hungary, June 22. — Arch-e bishop Josef Groesz confessed under an hour of questioning in a peoples court today that he led a plot to overthrow the Com-e munist government and restore the Haps- burg monarchy. The 64-year-old arch-i. bishop, who succeeded imprisoned Josef Cardinal Mindszenty as ranking Roman Catholic prelate in Hungary, pleaded guilty to charges ranging from conspiracy against the government to black market currency dealings. Wilson Warns Nation WASHINGTON, D. C, June 22.— Defense Mobilizer Charles E. Wilson warned today that the entire mobilization drive will collapse unless a reluctant Congress extends and toughens the Defense Production Act. The Act, comprising all controls legislation, is scheduled to expire on June 30. Constellation Missing DAKAR, French West Africa, June 22.— A four-engine Pan American Airways Constellation with 40 persons aboard was re- ported overdue and missing today on a flight from Liberia to Dakar. Ends Speculation UNITED NATIONS, N. Y., June 22.— Gen. Matthew B. Ridgways appeal for additional UN Armed Forces appeared today to put an end to speculation on a new peace appeal to Communist China. Instead, it indicated a stiffened "get tough" policy based on the principle that the best way to get the enemy to talk peace is to kill more Chinese. I Allies Win Air Battle TOKYO, Japan, June 22.— U. S. fighters ■ shot down or damaged five Communist jets in two blazing air battles over northwest Korea today to run their six-day toll of enemy planes to 29. American F-86 Sabre-Jets shot down two Russian-built MIG-15s, damaged three more and chased the survivors to the Manchurian border in the two engagements.
