Miss Miss Highbrow Highbrow Tallies Tallies at at Arlington; Arlington; Volcanic, Volcanic, Miche Miche Meet Meet in in Woodlawn Woodlawn Arlington Feature [ Tests Six Others Sprint Will Mark Seasonal Debut of Walmac Homebred; Bullish, Ballydam in Field By J. SWEENEY GRANT Staff Correspondent ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 25. — Walmac Farms Volcanic and Mrs. John Payson Adams Miche are slated to make their local debuts against Mrs. Emil Denemarks Bullish and six other shifty sprinters in tomorrows edition of the Woodlawn Purse. Both Volcanic and Miche were originally scheduled to parade postward in last Saturdays renewal of the Equipoise Mile, but were declared when the strip became heavy following overnight rains. Under the allowance conditions of the sprint Volcanic, Miche, and Mrs. Hattie Toffels Ballydam will answer the bugle under the equal top imposts of 122 pounds. Bullish has been assigned 110. Completing the field are Valley View Farms Little Bobbles, K. G. Marshalls Coffee Money, Shady Brook Farms Clevelander, the Arph Stables Dark Tiny and Alsab Farms Visional. Following a spectacular 1949 campaign in which he earned in excess of 00,000, Volcanic returned to actual competition last year and won two races in 10 starts. I The Walmac racer has been inactive since | the termination of the fall session at Keeneland last year, but from morning trials appears to have maintained his winning ways. Volcanic will be ridden by jockey Doug Dodson. Second Last Out at Belmont Miche placed second to Bryan G. in an overnight handicap at Belmont Park previous to his arrival here. The six-year-old son of Michel and Pura Suerte has been unable to reach the coveted circle in three starts this year, but has been close up each time. Miche has displayed Continued on Page Six VOLCANIC — Walmac Farms homebred six-year-old launches his 1951 campaign in the Woodlawn Purse at Arlington Park today. 1 Volcanic, Miche Vie Today At Arlington in Woodlawn Continued from Page One sprinting ability on several occasions, but perhaps his most outstanding victories have come over intermediate distances. Bullish finished second to Floating Clown earlier in the meeting, and that one should have served as a tightener. Previously the Denemark charge was also compelled to take runner-up honors behind Janina in an allowance test at Washington Park. Bullish will have the saddle services of Job Dean Jessop. Ballydam was unsuccessful in his quest for the Myrtlewood Handicap, which was won by John A. Kinards Johns Joy. The Toff el colt has shown good early speed in several engagements, but appears slightly overmatched against his rivals tomorrow. Coffee Money started twice during his Florida campaign, and since his arrival in Chicago has been training cleverly. However, he may require one or more races to obtain peak form. Clevelander, favorably weighted under a 110-pound impost, has been known to come forth with his best performance when pitted against formidable foes. The Shady Brook color -bearer should be in top condition, and must be regarded the dark horse. Dark Tiny, last seen under colors in an allowance dash at Washington Park, merits but a minimum of consideration. The Arph Stable representative was soundly trounced by Countess In and others in her latest effort. Dark Tiny would have to show a decidedly improved effort in order to remotely threaten her rivals in the Wood-lawn. Little Bobbles accounted for two victories during his four-year-old tenure. He may have benefited from a lengthy respite from actual competition, but does not appear capable of turning back such foes as Volcanic and Miche, even should he come forth with his best efforts. Visional, who will carry 105 pounds, is seeking her first win of the season and this will mark her first appearance at this meeting.
